APPLICATION HACKS

So you’re applying for new roles and you want to get noticed? We’re sharing five hot tips on how to show a cultural alignment in your application and GET NOTICED amongst the hundreds of applications gunning for that dream role of yours.

ONE

USE THE BRAND PANTONE AS YOUR BACKGROUND COLOUR.

Most applications we see use a stock standard word template or black and white formatting. A quick win to stand out from the crowd is to sprinkle the brand pantone in your resume as either a text block sections or the background. Immediately, your fit feels ‘on brand’ and has a point of difference.

TWO

REFERENCE YOUR FAVOURITE PRODUCT OR PURCHASE FROM THE BRAND.

An easy way to show you are a fab cultural fit is to make it clear that you shop with the brand (particularly for retail candidates) is to reference a product in the interview process. A simple one to slip in to show you’re aligned and familiar with the business that can easily help you stand out from the crowd.

THREE

RESEARCH THE BRAND VALUES AND USE THEM IN YOUR COVER LETTER.

Get clever, be creative, and use the bold tool to be sure your value references pass the skim test in your cover letter. State how you relate to each value and how your skill fits the bill… Use this as a way to show you are a skilled passion player and a great cultural fit.

FOUR

USE BRAND LOGOS of the brands you have worked for in the past. This is a goodie if you have worked for likeminded brands in the industry. In your experience section, tastefully place the logo of the brand you worked for next to your role title and date range of employment. Cute! Eye Catching! You clever thing, you!

FIVE

ADD A PHOTO

A great way to add a personal touch, create a memorable moment in the recruiters mind and make that recruiting manager feel instantly connected to you. Photos are not about vanity - they can help add personality to your resume and instantly make a resume more memorable in the recruiters mind. Whilst this may not be appropriate for senior roles, if you’re just starting out in the industry, we love this tip.
