If you're still unsure:

Consider an internship. An all-rounder Internship can often open up doors/mind to what careers might suit you. It builds connections and exposes you to a whole new network of people.

Get yourself a Mentor. A mentor can be a co-worker, someone who works in your desired field or someone who is an entrepreneur or has their own business. As your career develops, a mentor can provide feedback, resources, connections, skills and valuable knowledge. A mentor can challenge you and push you forward in your career.

Get results!! Have specific and measurable goals in your current role. Always perform at your highest level of capacity. Continually follow-through on your commitments, follow-up on your tasks and work with your team to achieve these goals.

Lastly, don't be in a rush! Don't be afraid to make a lateral move or a move across brands/companies, there is always something new to learn. Enjoy it and absorb the journey.

Retail is one of those industries where you can walk in with little experience, learn and develop along the way, and make it to your dream role.

However you have to be prepared to put the work in and take on feedback along the way.

At Relier, we often hear from shop floor candidates who want to make the move from shop floor to office, but many of these candidates are unclear about how to bring this dream to life.
