THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a highly capable Senior Design Assistant/Design Coordinator to support the Head Designer across the design and development of all product categories. This hands-on role is suited to a designer with 3–5 years' experience who can confidently manage multiple priorities while contributing strong creative, technical and organisational skills in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.

Working across dresses, tailoring, separates, knitwear, denim, outerwear, swim and resort, you'll support the entire product lifecycle; from research and concept development through to CADs, technical packs, fittings, sample management and production handover.

Responsibilities:

Design & Development

  • Support seasonal collection development across all categories.

  • Conduct trend, market and fabric research, contributing to concepts, colour and print direction.

  • Produce CADs, technical sketches and design specifications.

  • Maintain range plans, line sheets and design documentation.

  • Translate creative concepts into commercially relevant, brand-aligned products.

Technical Development

  • Prepare and maintain accurate tech packs and specifications.

  • Collaborate with garment technicians, patternmakers, production teams and suppliers.

  • Review samples, attend fittings and communicate development comments.

  • Identify and resolve design, fit and production issues.

Fabric, Trim & Sample Management

  • Assist with sourcing fabrics, trims and embellishments.

  • Coordinate lab dips, strike-offs and sample submissions.

  • Track samples and maintain organised fabric, trim and design libraries.

  • Ensure products meet quality, margin and commercial objectives.

Project & Cross-Functional Support

  • Track development timelines and ensure seasonal milestones are met.

  • Maintain organised digital and physical design files.

  • Partner with merchandising, production, sales, e-commerce and marketing teams.

  • Support product handovers with accurate design and technical information.

  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers while managing deadlines.
